- St. Petersburg Car Rally
The initiators
of the car rally Amsterdam – St. Petersburg are thrilled to present a car
rally from Amsterdam to St. Petersburg, which is to cement relationships between
the two cities. Forty to eighty people will drive about twenty colourfully
‘styled’ cars from Amsterdam to St. Petersburg and back in several legs
(stops are planned in Warsaw and Riga). The exchange of art, music and (youth)culture
in Warsaw, Riga and St. Petersburg promise to be highlights of the project.
Several young
Dutch artists will style the cars in Amsterdam and drive them to St. Petersburg.
Upon arrival in St. Petersburg, Russian artists add their own art forms to some
of the participating cars as well. In both cities, an open-air exhibition will
be set up in a central square. The organisers will also initiate a multi-media,
mobile art game during the rally. This game will involve techniques like GPRS,
SMS, MMS and the exchange of (photo) documents via mobile phones. Local partners
in all of the staging points can ask the artists to carry out assignments.
