The name Vedaki (or Vershki da Koreshki) is made up of Sprouts (Vershki: based upon traditional musical inspirations) and Roots (Koreshi: modern jazz and improvisation). Ever since its foundation in 1994, Vedaki consists of two musicians from St. Petersburg and two musicians that are resident in the Netherlands, but are originally from Senegal and India. Vedaki's key word is improvisation. The musicians from St. Petersburg will enter into a profound musical debate with, for the audience, unfamiliar musical inspiration from Africa and India.

Musicians

  • Mola Sylla (the Netherlands, originally from Senegal) - vocals, kongoma, m'bira, xalam
  • Alexei Levin (the Netherlands, originally from St. Petersburg) - accordion, piano, jew's harp
  • Vladimir Volkov (St. Petersburg ) - double bass
  • Sandip Bhattacharya (the Netherlands, originally from India) - vocals, tabla
